Deadline for 2011 Season March 28th, 2011.

You can learn more about the disease on their website.

Here is the link to learn more about Hersheypark.

According to their website, SMA is the number one genetic keller of children under the age of 2.  SMA is an inherited and often fatal disease that destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement, which affects crawling, walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing.  Two new-born children are affected each day in the United States, approximately 1 in 6,000 live births.  One in every 40 people carries the gene that causes SMA, which means there are more than seven million carriers in the United States alone.  Currently there is no treatment or cure.

This is yet another case of families turning tragedy into triumph.  My cousin Johnny has friends who lost their child to this disease.  They work tirelessly to find a cure so no other families have to endure the hardship of a disease that affects approximately 1 in 6000 babies each year.  I first got involved many years ago by attending their annual Crab Feast/Silent Auction.  The Chesapeake Chapter also hosts a golf tournament each year.

If you are considering going to the park, we would sure appreciate you buying your tickets through the Families of SMA.  You will get discount Hersheypark Tickets that can be used anytime in the 2011 season, you will save money and just may save a life!  See below for the order form.

Here's some pictures from our 2010 trip to Hershey, thanks to our discount Hershey Park Tickets 2010 through Families of SMA.  As you can see we had a great time, even with the rain!!
