AR-mageddon

If you weren't living under a rock last winter you probably heard about SNOW-MAGEDDON,  sometimes called the SNOW-POCOLYPSE.  The Blizzard of 2010 brought business to a screeching halt, school children actually begged to go to school, and the Blizzard Baby Phenomenon was born (pun intended).

The blizzard baby phenomenom is when there is a spike in births 9 months after a blizzard.  Heck, you have to do something to keep warm and keep from eating each other!

I am beginning to think we are in the midst of the AR-mageddon.

There is an entire group dedicated to the Active Rain Addiction.  I wrote a post a while back about my own addiction.  Writing Blogs, Reading Blogs, checking statistics, commenting, thinking of new blog topics and taking pictures for future blogs has been keeping me busy from morning til night over the last several weeks.  I am newly (or newly again) addicted.

As you know, Active Rain has been experiencing some technical difficulties of late (she says a bit tongue in cheek).  There have been apologies from the Active Rain Headquarters, Blog after Blog, and Comment after Comment lamenting the frustrations with connectivity, lost blogs, and time wasted waiting for AR.  Lots of bloggers have been even checking their personal computers for viruses, connection issues, etc.

Here's some ideas to help you to deal with AR-mageddon.

•1.        Speak directly to your loved ones instead of distractedly while reading/writing on AR

•2.       Spend some quality time with your spouse/significant other without the buzz of the computer or the tap, tap, tapping of the keys

•3.       Pick up the phone and contact your clients, friends, network and start TALKING

•4.       Incessantly try to connect to Active Rain, get angry and frustrated and threaten to quit blogging. (Oh wait, that's NOT a good idea, STOP DOING THAT!)

•5.       Make a list of all the other parts of your life and business you have neglected because of your Active Rain addiction and work on those.

•6.       Get Belly to Belly and Eye Ball to Eyeball with your prospects

•7.       Remember what worked B-AR (Before Active Rain)

•8.       EAT DINNER WITH YOUR FAMILY

•9.       Go to bed at a decent hour and dream of all the amazing connections you have made through Active Rain and write a blog (on word press, word, on the back of your hand) about this fantastic networking site that you can post as soon as the glitches are taken care of.

•10.   Snuggle up, cuddle up, or don't.... JUST GO TO BED!

You just never know what may happen in 9 months once AR-mageddon is done.  I promise you just like the snow, these difficulties will be a distant memory when you close that referral business or the home buyer you ran into at the grocery store or at the playground!  You may even remember what your kids look like and who know's....

Maybe we will be welcoming lots of new little bundles of  Realtors In Training or Little Loan Officers 9 months from now.

Warm Regards,

I'm guilty of number one more than anyone.  My wife gets irritated, so I guess I need to go into therapy.  Good points to take to the heart here.

Too cute Bridget- I just now was sort of answering distractedly as I surfed AR. LOL. But as you know this place called AR has such a power over us. That's why I think we get so upset when it is not working properly. Anyway...next time I will try some of your ideas. Afterall there is more to life or so I am told. :0)

Larry,  I bet if we polled the spouses, you would be in good company!

Martha, Thanks!  It really is more addicting than I ever thought possible!  I am so grateful to the techies that got things (mostly) back on track!
