Today was a good day.  Yesterday I got a call from a reporter from MSNBC who wanted to interview me about the effect of Hurricane Irene on the Real Estate market.

Do you know why he found me?

He found me because I wrote a blog entitled:  How will Hurricane Irene affect Real Estate and Mortgages in Maryland?

Apparently, the reporter decided that "little ole me" was the "Diane Sawyer of Blogging".  He called me to discuss my thoughts on what effect the hurricane will have on the mortgage and real estate market....hmmm, is there a connection?  UHHHH, Yeah!!

Today, I read the article.Yes, he called me to discuss my thoughts. Yes, he spelled my name wrong. Yes, at least one of his facts were a little off. But YES, he called ME an Expert!!    (Experts say the storm could delay pending homes sales and, in the longer-term, potentially depress home values)

Does this increase my credibility?  Does this mean that someone may find me who wouldn't have found me otherwise?  Does this mean that I have just improved my ranking among the other people who do mortgages in Maryland?....UHHHHH, YEAH!!!

I wrote a blog on Active Rain.  David Koeppel, a reporter looking to do a story about what I had written read it.  An article was written where I was called an expert.  Today was a good day.  I think I will:

Bridget -congratulations and how exciting to be labeled an expert (which you are) on real estate in your area by an MSNBC news reporter - so cool! Of course they got you're name wrong - I swear that always happens when it's something really big and important! Regardless - this can only lead to more good things. I suggest - what an inspiration to the rest of us on Active Rain! Now take some time to revel in your big achievement!

Bridget--that is just great.  Congratulations.  You are an "expert" because the media has deemed you to be one.  And I do agree with you that we never know who is reading what we write.

Of course you are the expert! Why else would you be writing those posts in your area? That is what "makes" you the expert because you are on the ground and in the action:)

Kristine, A rose by any other name...still Mortgage Mama!!  Thanks for the kind words!

Mary, I think it's about blogging about things that matter to folks.  Relevant topics help people to find us. The personal stuff helps people to connect with us.

Ken, Thanks! It has been fun lately!  I love being busy.

Margaret, Thank you!  You make it easy to shine!

Janet, There are lots of experts in the Rain who don't happen to be "deemed" by the media. It is fun getting noticed though!

Chris, I will sure remember you in my climb to the top!! You are too funny!

Mary, It is great to be able to share the successes.  It means more to be able to share it with such wonderful folks here!

Bruce, Thank you!

Dr. Stacey, Back at you my friend! It is folks like you who care so much that make the Rain what it is.

Bill, that is for sure. I look forward to more stumbles!!

Karen,  "On the ground and in the action"....I like that!  It is so true.  I think that is why reporters are searching Active Rain blogs, because they understand that!

Chuck, I think you are right, that's why it's important to post on a regular basis!

Dave, I think it does...getting business as a result will make it even better!

Scotti, I check my stats if I am not getting comments because it helps to validate my continuing to write, and lets me know that people are listening.

Karen, I am used to people mis-spelling it. I used to say that I am too short to have that many letters!

Win Home Inspections, I agree with that! I utilize the back space/delete button often, just for that reason!

Bob, it is nice to be noticed.  If it wasn't for Active Rain I don't think I would have been the one he called!

Barbara, Hopefully it is someone who is ready to call me about a mortgage loan!!

Lisa, That is the benefit of blogging, to share what we know!!

Mike, "The right kind of notoriety"...that is for sure. Too many lenders and realtors are still getting caught up in negative publicity.

Joye, Maybe one day I'll have my own show!  Even Oprah had to start somewhere!

Sandy, Thank you!

Cindy, The ringing phone is the key!

Teral, I will have to read about it!  Glad they got your name right!

Lanre, I LOVE that!  Maybe I will use that for my next set of business cards!!  I am happy to sign autographs, especially on loan documents!!

Erica, I am just happy that they called and actually used some of what we spoke about!

Evelyn, How kind, thank you!  I look forward to reading your blog!

Marc, Active Rain is a great place to network and be discovered!!  There is a lot of talent here.

Rebekah, Like you I write about what I know and the people and the business I love, that is the key!

Christine, the stats and the closings show it! People are listening!

Diane, Thanks so much!  So many folks here share their heart and soul on their blogs, AR is a great platform!
