Renters are people too! A thank you to Relo Agents...

Renters are people too!

I got a call today from a young lady who "found me on the internet".  I am not sure exactly where she found me. It could be my Zillow profile, or because I answered questions on Trulia. It could have been one of my ActiveRain blogs or something nice that a client or a realtor wrote about me.

She called me because she had been looking for a rental in Baltimore.  She is from another state and has moved quite a bit for her job. She is settling in Baltimore with a family member and is currently living in Executive housing.  Her company provides relocation realtors to assist in the transition. My client never felt like a priority, like any of the folks she was dealing with cared about her or her needs.

Well guess what?  She talked to her family about her frustrations and they advised her to find a lender and talk about buying because they heard it was cheaper to buy than to rent.

I was the one that got that call.  I was the one who pre-qualified her and I am the one that was able to refer her to one of my amazing Realtors to find her the right home.

This is a borrower who has a GREAT income, good credit scores and a strong desire to move quickly....sounds like the perfect trifecta to me!

Ask the right questions and you will be amazed at what you find out.

MY new client (thanks to the agent(s) who blew her off ) has already spoken to one of my preferred realtors and will be looking for the right home to PURCHASE in Baltimore in the $300,000 range. It sounds like someone (or a few someone's) lost out on a potential commission check and a potential referral.

Are you asking the right questions of your rental clients?  Is it time for them to buy instead of rent?

If you are considering a rental in Baltimore, call me first. You may be surprised at what you find out!  I have realtors ready to help, no matter what your needs!

Renters are people too! A thank you to Relo Agents...

Hi Bridget, you see 'working with renters doesn't fit in everybody's business model' and I've had more than one agent tell me that 'renters just take time away from their important clients'. Well, I'm in the business of finding homes for clients and I'm happy to work with renters, too. I do ask the questions and occasionally a renter does turn into a buyer.

I'm going to say she found you through your AR blogs (just because I need to see you blogging more :-)

Bridget, I always ask rental leads why they aren't buying and most of the time it's because they don't realize they can buy a home for little or no money down, some don't realize they can borrow from their IRA for downpayment, some don't realize there are CDA/SELP and other programs out there to get downpayment money and some just flat out never thought about it.   You never know where your next deal is coming from and where might just surprise you.
